Intermedia

Intermedia gallery plays an unusual but vital role in the Glasgow's visual arts scene. Opening in 1992 on King Street, next door to Transmission Gallery, Intermedia is now based in the CCA. Run by Glasgow City Council (now Culture and Sport Glasgow), Intermedia stands apart from other organisations in the city. In the past 16 years, Intermedia has shown artists such as Kate Davis, Fiona Jardine and Alan Michael. The revolving selecting panel comprises Glasgow-based artists, writers and curators – and many of the gallery's exhibiting artists have also gone on to take a place in the panel. Selections are based on quality of work and application, and only Glasgow-based artists or groups can apply. A small grant is awarded to each successful candidate to aid costs.
