Artists' Film Surveys: Paul Rooney

Liverpool based Paul Rooney makes video and film works that focus on the nature of individual subjectivity in relation to the historical past, often dealing in particular with the difficulty of attempting to render historical memory in language or images. All of the works use or reference narrative forms such as short stories, songs, audio guides and letters, and the works usually have a ‘found’ text as their starting point. The ICA shows a range of his recent and earlier works.
