Examining the significance of Francis Bacon’s 1955 ICA exhibition, this panel discussion focuses on questions connected to the artist’s relationship to the social and artistic context of the time, specifically pop and queer culture. This panel accompanies ICA Fox Reading Room exhibition FB55, an archival display of Francis Bacon’s 1955 show held at the ICA's former premises on Dover Street.
Chaired by ICA Executive Director Gregor Muir, speakers include Anne Massey (Professor of Design, Middlesex University), Paul Rousseau (Collection Manager, John Deakin Archive) and Victoria Walsh (Head of Programme, Curating Contemporary Art, Royal College of Art).
Due to unforeseen circumstances Rina Arya is no longer able to participate.
