Young ICA with Reprezent Radio are co-curating a free, one-day festival created by and for young people, offering opportunities for people to curate and participate in a range of art workshops, talks and screenings, exploring and responding to ideas in contemporary culture and experimenting across a range of disciplines.

Reprezent Radio is broadcasting live throughout the day in the ICA Theatre, presenting some of today’s most exciting young music producers, performers, and influencers. Alongside CTRL: Reprezent x ICA, students from the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture at Kingston University are hosting an alternative art school with screen-printing workshops from Studio K, while GIF (Girls In Film), Topsafe TV and Tim and Barry (Just Jam) present special screenings, and multimedia platform Skin Deep curate an interactive sound-based event in response to Beyonce’s Lemonade. There are also special contributions from ICA Student Forum and ICA Learning Associates.

This festival forms part of the Young ICA summer programme, which celebrates the cultural and creative explorations of young London through a special programme of events includes filmmaking, poetry and photography workshops and a STOP PLAY RECORD film school. Coinciding with the Young ICA summer programme, the ICA exhibition: Alasdair McLellan & Lev Tanju: The Palace showcases previously unseen imagery by renowned photographer Alasdair McLellan of the Palace Skateboards’ team. Palace founder, Lev Tanju, has specially created a video installation to accompany McLellan’s images.

Through partnership and collaboration, the ICA is deepening its learning offer for young people aged 16-24 years, with a focus on those who have least access to the arts. Our aim is to generate opportunities for radical relationship-making between young people and the institution by creating a platform for young people to devise and deliver programmes for themselves and others.
