Still: Possession

Possession + Beryl Bainbridge + Kate Summerscale

8 Jun 2008

Beryl Bainbridge talks to fellow novelist Kate Summerscale about her experience of having her work adapted for screen, following a screening of the Neil Labute's adaptation of A.S Byatt's novel, Possession. Beryl takes the place of A.S Byatt who due to ill health is sadly unable to speak as originally scheduled.

Possession, Byatt’s acclaimed book, became an equally successful film. Two academics (played by Gwyneth Paltrow and Aaron Eckhart) unearth the love letters of two Victorian poets, and spark a detective puzzle and their own affair.

Dir Neil LaBute, UK/US 2002, 102 mins, Cert 12A
