Art Night: Disused Jubilee Line, Charing Cross Underground Station: Koo Jeong A

2 Jul 2016

This project runs 5pm-12am. Advance bookings only.

Koo Jeong A creates a new site-specific installation that responds to the uncanny disused Jubilee line platform in Charing Cross Underground Station, by creating a sensory environment using smell and light – that considers the architecture of the Underground as a place of bodily encounters and movement.

Jeong A’s work incorporates objects, still and moving images, audio elements, and aromas to create site-specific environments that question the boundaries between fact and fiction and alter our sense of reality. In her environments, nothing is merely ordinary; on the contrary, any material or phenomena—be it a mound of charcoal, a shaft of iron, or a glare of sunlight—are transformed into new discoveries or journeys.

All bookers for this event will be emailed in advance with specific details about how to gain access to the venue. Please note that there is no step-free access to the station and a moderate level of fitness is required to walk the 100 static escalator steps and stairs between ground and platform level and along the route.

A co-commission with Art on the Underground and a creative collaboration with International Flavors & Fragrances.
