Playback: Financing Your Next Film

Heather Corcoran is Outreach Lead at the creative funding platform Kickstarter. Based in London, she works closely with innovators, creators and makers who use Kickstarter to bring new projects to life.

Before that, she was the Executive Director of Rhizome at the New Museum, New York, and Deputy Director of London's Film and Video Umbrella. She has held positions at FACT, the Barbican Centre and Space, as well as contributing to exhibitions at the Liverpool Biennial and Whitechapel Gallery, among others.

FLAMIN is Film London’s Artists' Moving Image Network, which supports London-based artists working in moving image - whether film, video, digital or new technologies and for installation, animation, cinema, gallery exhibition, the public realm or broadcast. As FLAMIN's Production Co-ordinator, Greta Hewison acts across FLAMIN's varied projects, supporting the production of artists' moving image work through FLAMIN’s commissioning schemes, and the co-ordination of the Film London Jarman Award, a prize for UK based artists working with the moving image.

Prior to joining FLAMIN, Hewison worked at Frieze Projects, the not-for-profit commissioning arm of Frieze Art Fair, and Bold Tendencies, the art exhibition and events venue sited in a car park in Peckham.

Daniel Montanarini is a writer/director from South East London. He studied film and literature at the University of Warwick under Victor Perkins, the founder of film studies in the UK and Directing Fiction at the National Film School.    

Montanarini's first short film The Guest starred Olivia Williams, premiered at Krakow International Film festival and got him into the National Film and Television School. His graduation film Seahorse premiered at the Austin International Film Festival where it was nominated for best International Short.     

His last film The Arrival premiered as a Vimeo Staff Pick, featured on Short of The Week and won the women's award at Le Temps Presse Festival founded in by Wim Wenders in Paris. In 2017 Daniel was shortlisted for D&AD's New Director.    

He is currently finishing post-production on the short film Debt starring Neil Maskell.

Jenn Nkiru is an award-winning visionary artist and director from and based in Peckham, London. Named as one of the 200 women redefining the creative industries in 2018 by The Dots, her first film En Vogue, shot by Bradford Young and Arthur Jafa, screened internationally to critical success. Previous credits include a documentary series for Redbull and a campaign for photographer Rankin where he selected Nkiru as one of twenty of the 'industry's top directors and most creative talent'.

Additional credits include short films for the BFI, Condé Nast, Channel 4 and the Tate. Current cover star of Pitch Magazine's 2018 New Talent issue. Commissioned by NOWNESS, her most recent credit, Rebirth Is Necessary, is a dreamlike art film centred on Blackness past, present and future and winner of the 2018 Canal+ Award.

Beth Webb is the multiplatform editor for Random Acts, working to ensure that the strand's bold and innovative short films are done digital justice. She also works with Random Acts partners to help get shorts out onto the big screen, at festivals, cinema seasons and ahead of feature films, and helps out with the day-to-day running of the Random Acts strand.

Webb co-runs the Bechdel Test Fest, a leading feminist film collective that celebrates women in film, and is a freelance film journalist who frequently appears in Little White Lies, Aesthetica Magazine and on BBC Radio London.
