In January ICA Learning Associates SE1 United hosted Sounds Critical, a free and relaxed evening of ‘work in progress’ offering a platform to support and inspire young people under 25 years to keep creating against the odds. As well as a talk with music production specialists, DJs and talent managers exploring ways to create, share and promote work, we had music from young people under 25 years from across London who had responded to our open call for original tunes. DJs Throwing Shade and Barely Legal celebrated the new talent coming through by playing sets specially curated from submissions, followed by a fantastic set from A.G the DJ before headliners House of Pharaohs closed the night with a blistering performance.
The event was part of Young ICA, a programme celebrating the cultural and creative explorations of young London through music, art, film and debate. Below are photographs from the night, all taken by Elzbieta Piekacz. ■
