Artist biographies

• Travis Alabanza

  Travis Alabanza is a Black, trans, femme performance artist who combines the soul of their mother and the spirit of their council estate to create a combination of poetic, visual, and audio responses to topics such as race, gender and class. Recently published in Black & Gay in the UK, Black girl dangerous, Not trans enough and the Barbican Young Poets 2015/16 Anthology, Alabanza's words unapologetically scream about the revolution they deserve. In 2015/16 they have toured their show Stories of A Queer Brown Muddy Kid to a sold out Vauxhall Tavern, Keble Arts Festival, Oxford Queer Week and Housman's Bookstore. In 2016/17 they are one of the artist and residences at the Tate, as well as recently performing in Scottee's acclaimed show Putting Words in Your Mouth at the Roundhouse. Alabanza will have their first solo show in February at Transmission's Gallery, Glasgow.

• Anna Bunting-Branch

  Anna Bunting-Branch (b. 1987, England) holds a PhD and MA Fine Art Painting from Slade School of Fine Art, University College London (2014 & 2011). Recent solo exhibitions include Jerwood Solo Presentations 2017, Jerwood Visual Arts, London (2017); W.I.T.C.H. (“Women Inspired To Commit Herstory and other tales…”), Hardwick Gallery, Cheltenham (2015); A Description of a New World, Called The Blazing World, Jerwood Visual Arts Project Space, London; and Mizora – A World of Women, Passatge Studio, Barcelona (both 2014). Recent group exhibitions include Primary Care, Julius Caesar, Chicago IL (2015); and Wendel! Open Your Door, Café Gallery Projects, London (2013)

• Georgia Horgan

  Georgia Horgan (b. 1991) is an artist based in Glasgow. Recent exhibitions and projects include a two-person exhibition with Clunie Reid at Celine, Glasgow (2016); Saturday, a project at Calton Burial Ground as part of Glasgow International (2016); Neo-Pagan- Bitch-Witch!, group exhibition at Evelyn Yard, London (2016); and Machine Room, a solo project at Collective, Edinburgh (2015). She has a forthcoming solo exhibition at Public Exhibitions, London, in early February 2017.

• Holly Pester

  Holly Pester is a poet and a lecturer in Poetry and Performance at University of Essex. Her work is published in Out of Everywhere 2, (Reality Street, 2015) and Dear World & Everyone In It, (Bloodaxe, 2013). She performs work at key UK art galleries, theatres and pubs, and at international festivals including Documenta 13 and Fiac 2015. Her collection, Go to reception and ask for Sara in red felt tip, (Book Works, 2015) features poetry, prose and gossip as forms of archive enquiry. She is currently working on a collaborative sound poetry project foregrounding the sounds and gestures of lullabies (Test Centre, 2016).

• Izabella Scott

  Izabella Scott is a writer based in London, published by Frieze, The White Review, Artsy, FT Weekend, Review 31, and Studio International. She works as Assistant Editor for The White Review. She studied at Trinity College Dublin (BA) and the Royal College of Art, London (MA).

• Candice Lin and Patrick Staff

  Candice Lin and Patrick Staff live and work in Los Angeles, and have been collaborating since 2010. Their collaborative practice focuses on the queer potential of herbal practices and cross-species interactions. Their work has been shown at Gasworks, London; Centro Para Os Assuntos Da Arte E Arquitectura, Portugal; and as part of the Serpentine Transformation Marathon, 2015. Alongside this, Lin has had recent solo exhibitions at François Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles; Artissima, Turin; and Galeria Quadrado Azul, Porto. Staff’s recent solo exhibitions include Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver; Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane; Spike Island, Bristol; and Chisenhale Gallery, London.

• Linda Stupart

  Linda Stupart is an artist, writer, and educator from Cape Town, South Africa, who has recently completed their PhD in the Art Department at Goldsmiths College with a project engaged in new considerations of objectification. They had a solo show at Arcadia Missa in March 2016, A Dead Writer Exists in Words and Language is a Type of Virus, and recently launched their debut novella, Virus, also at Arcadia Missa. Their work has been the focus of two solo exhibitions in Cape Town and has also recently been shown/performed at Matt’s Gallery, The Showroom, a.m. gallery, the ICA, Gasworks, and Guest Projects in London.
