We caught up with artist and filmmaker Laure Prouvost in her studio to discuss her work, which launches the ICA’s National Moving Image Programme later this month at Cornerhouse, Manchester; MK Gallery, Milton Keynes; Tramway, Glasgow and Turner Contemporary, Margate. This new network aims to support the development of Artists Moving Image and expand its growing audience with an accessible regular programme of monthly screenings and events.
Prouvost’s screening brings together a cross-section of her moving image work, alongside a selection of her distinct monologue sound pieces. In 2013 Prouvost won the Turner Prize, for the exhibition Farfromwords shown at the Whitechapel Gallery, London, and Collezione Maramotti, Reggio Emilia, Italy (both 2013) and her film installation Wantee, as part of the exhibition Schwitter’s in Britain at Tate Britain, London (2013). The films featured in both of these installations, Swallow (2013) and Wantee (2013), are included in the programme, as well as a series of earlier works from 2008 onwards.
The monthly programme continues into 2014 with screenings of work by Anja Kirschner and David Panos, Aurélien Froment, and a group screening called 21st Century Pop.
These screenings are presented in association with the ICA with support from The Foyle Foundation.
