ICA Designated Random Acts Network Centre for London

The ICA is thrilled to announce our designation as the Random Acts Network Centre for London, an incredible opportunity to lead an association of five partners together offering arts education, training and production support to young people over the next three years. 

This successful bid enables the creation of a programme to workshop and produce short film commissions by young artists between the ages of 16 and 24 for distribution by Channel 4 and Arts Council England. The award of £597,480 will go towards developing this young talent, both new and experienced, and will help to open a career path into this sector. We aim to strike a balance between structured skills-based workshops and informal learning to encourage experimentation and participation in the fields of artistic, documentary, music video, narrative film and spoken word, as well as offering a variety of career development opportunities.  

Our partners in this bid are Chisenhale Gallery, Dazed Digital, Kingston University, Bloomberg New Contemporaries and SPACE Studios. Each partner will be responsible for a portion of the 72 films we have committed to produce for both television and online platforms over the three year delivery schedule. ICA, Dazed Digital and Kingston University have already delivered over 60 films for previous Random Acts commissions. 

Building on the ICA's previous commissions for Channel 4 with artists Duncan Campbell, Steven Claydon, Gail Pickering, Elizabeth Price and Mark Aerial Waller, we look forward to supporting further young artists with this new and exciting challenge. – Gregor Muir, Executive Director ICA  

We will also be working closely with A New Direction, the Arts Council Bridge organisation in London, to broaden the relevance of and access to contemporary arts and culture to young people. This builds on our recent expansion of work with the post-16 age group through the matinee programme, Cinemania and the Young Independents.
