Workshop on Experimental Sound

27 Jun 2015

Using pieces of the archive as 'collage' elements, and a variety of digital and analogue noise making & recording tools, artist Jenny Moore will lead an experimental workshop on sound for 16-19 year olds. Finding personal politics and social scenarios amongst the archive, students re-work the material into new compositions based on improvisation, guided activities and experimenting.

Jenny Moore is a Canadian artist and musician based in London. She makes live events, and installations where sculpture and performance meet, using music and comedy as way of exploring the now of political concerns and failures. She plays in the all-female, all-drum band Charismatic Megafauna and performs with a shifting roster of friends, who make events, performances, and dinner parties. Moore's current research project Bedfellows, revolves around sex and relationship education and is in collaboration with fellow artists Phoebe Davies and Chloe Cooper. Recent performances include Serpentine Gallery, London; Library Gallery, Canada; Wysing Music Festival, Cambridge; Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Other recent projects: Almanac Projects, Tate Modern, South London Gallery. Moore went to art school twice, in Winnipeg and London. She currently works with Prof Irit Rogoff, Department of Visual Cultures, Goldsmiths.

This workshop has been developed in response to Shout Out! Reading Room display.
