Riding a wave of hype and controversy, Trenchard-Smith's low-rent futuristic shocker was a huge hit when it opened in the UK in the early 1980s. Prisoners in a 're-education camp' are forced to either submit to a new post-holocaust authority or take part in a deadly game in which they're hunted through the jungle for sport. Randomly thrown in for good measure is a character known as Freak, a hairy man-monster who rides around in a bulldozer.

Dir Brian Trenchard-Smith, Australia 1982, 90 mins, Cert 18
