**** "This tough, impassive, marvellous second feature from young Chilean Pablo Larraín exhibits a candour and keen eye for its ‘lower depths' milieu worthy of Pasolini at his most austere and non-judgmental." Time Out

Mixing disco with political allegory and Taxi Driver-style psychosis, this uncompromising drama is set in Santiago, Chile, during Pinochet's dictatorship. Middle-aged Raul Peralta is obsessed with John Travolta's Saturday Night Fever character Tony Manero, watching the film repeatedly in his local fleapit and heading up a disco troupe in a white suit and stack heels. The prospect of a televised Manero lookalike competition sends Peralta over the edge, and we follow this misanthropic antihero into some very dark places.
