Participant biographies

• Erica Scourti

  Erica Scourti was born in Athens, Greece and is now based in London. Her work draws on personal experience to explore life, labour, gender and love in a fully mediated world. She has exhibited recently in Bedlam: The Asylum and Beyond at the Wellcome Collection, Fireflies in the Night at the Niarchos Centre, Athens, Third Party at CTRL+SHIFT, Oakland, as well as Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam, Microscope Gallery, New York, Somerset House, FACT, The Photographers’ Gallery, Hayward Gallery, Munich Kunstverein, EMST Athens and Banner Repeater.

  She has presented performances and talks at Whitechapel Gallery, South London Gallery, Block Universe Festival, IMPAKT Festival 2016, Utrecht, Transmediale, Dutch Art Institute, ICA, Southbank Centre, the Royal College of Art, Goldsmiths College, Autoitalia and Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam. In 2015 Erica was in residence at Wysing Arts Centre and the White Building, London, and she is currently a resident of Somerset House Studios.

• Oreet Ashery

  Oreet Ashery is a transdisciplinary visual artist and an educator working with political/bio-fiction, gender materiality and potential communities. Ashery’s established practice manifests through distinct multiplatform collaborative projects and spans live situations and performances, moving and still image, writing, workshops and assemblages.

  Ashery’s recent large-scale projects include Passing Through Metal, a sonic performance commissioned by Lilith Performance Studio, Malmo, 2017, the web-series Revisiting Genesis, commissioned by The Stanley Picker Foundation, 2016, The World is Flooding, a Tate Modern Turbine Hall commission, 2014, and Party for Freedom, an Artangel commission 2013.

• Nora Khan

  Nora Khan is a writer, a Contributing Editor at Rhizome, and a current Eyebeam Research Resident based in New York City. She writes fiction and criticism, with a general focus on digital art, artificial intelligence and games, and while at Eyebeam, a specific focus on the history of computerized poetry, bots and simulations.

  She has published in Rhizome, Art in America, The Village Voice, California Sunday, After Us, Conjunctions, AVANT and DIS.  She’s a 2016 Thoma Foundation Arts Writing Fellow in Digital Art.
