Talc

Talc + Grovesnor

28 Sep 2006

Talc felt the need to write and perform material that spoke to them, that made them fall in love with music all over again. After a meeting on Christmas day at James Knights' house, over turkey prepared by his good friend Nichol Thomson, the intrepid pair decided they were full. Full of the usual pop/rock deserts on offer and would make their own recipe. And so Talc were born.

Wah Wah 45s released Talc's first single, 'Modern Sleepover', last year, and are currently planning Talc world domination for 2006. On stage Talc are simply one of the weirdest and most wonderful acts on the planet. They've proved this at Cargo three times in twelve months, as well as supporting Talc fan Questlove (from The Roots) in Brighton amongst several other gigs. On wax think Steely Dan meets The Doobie Brothers, with a bit of Hall & Oats thrown in for good measure. You need Talc in your life.

Support is from Grovesnor, fresh from a tour with Hot Chip, described as a charmer and idiot in equal measure and as "a white Teddy Pendergrass" - electronica with a pop / soul sensibility and "an M&S attired, suburban Har Mar - it was like watching Steven Spielberg's body do the bidding of Prince's soul."
