A special showcase for the films of artist, novelist and filmmaker Xiaolu Guo, whose new book A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers is published this month. In the delicate, mysterious featurelength work How Is Your Fish Today? (2006, 83 mins) two narratives - and two Chinas - converge when a scriptwriter relates the story of a young man escaping his past by crossing the country for the sanctuary of a border village. In the accompanying short Address Unknown (2006, 11 mins), a Beijing woman sends letters to a longdistance lover in London.
This screening will be followed by Q&A with director Xiaolu Guo.
