Speakeasy

Speakeasy

9 May 2009

Open 12.30 - 7.00pm, with live performances from 5 - 5.30pm in ICA Theatre

Speakeasy, an ongoing project initiated by artist Terry Smith, is an informal experiment in the public presentation of artists' work that has explored areas including dance and movement as well as more conventional media. Bucking the conventions of the 'artist's talk', Speakeasy events aim to explore aspects of artists' working process in an informal and interactive environment.

This event at the ICA, Word/Play, is an investigation into the spoken word as raw material, and includes a film by David Austen (start time 12.30pm), video works by Jordan Baseman, Paul Coldwell, Roi Vaara and Gun Holmström, a telephone work by Gayle Chong Kwan, a workshop by IMAA Islington Mill Arts Academy and performances by Jefford Horrigan and the String.
