Slackistan, Dir Hammad Khan, 2010

5 Jan 201118 Jan 2011

Following a number of acclaimed shorts, British-Pakistani filmmaker Hammad Khan makes his feature debut with this laidback but insightful look at everyday life in Islamabad. Utilising the model of so many Western-made indie films, Khan follows a group of privileged and directionless friends as they waste their days hanging out, partying and smoking shisha pipes in ‘the city that always sleeps’. However, as they float uncaring through their relatively easy lives, little do they realise that reality and adult responsibility is just around the corner.
