This popular kick off to LSFF returns to put a smile on your face for the New Year.

Actresses turned directors Romala Gorai and Kate Hardie bring us respectively Scrubber about a young mother with a secret passion for something forbidden and Shoot Me with Claire Skinner experiencing her first photo shoot.

Wild girls go through their young lives with a cloud of dust and mayhem in their wake, as they find their way to adulthood. A selection of films that are both hard hitting and bittersweet in equal measures, while pulling no punches.

These films go to show that in times of austerity, inventive work can be made on zero.

The best in new experimental work, from stunning animations to groundbreaking artists work, including new films from Ben Rivers, Max Hattler, Stuart Pound, Liane Lang, Jessica Sarah Rinland and Tim Webb.

Filmmaker Ruth Paxton presents two visual films as a screening installation. Both films explore powerful themes of performance, rescue, guilt and loss, and sit somewhere between experimental documentary and artwork.

The sense of melancholia that runs through this programme acts like an elegy to the Twentieth Century ideologies and ideals of the left.

Experience a powerful selection of drama with a selection of films that zone in on the fraught relationships between the women in the family.

Join the London premiere screening of The Creator, a beautiful and surreal film by award-winning British filmmakers AL and AL, who will be present for a Q&A following the film.

This premiere screening will include 6 short films from the first year of Collabor8te, and be followed by a panel discussion with some of the directors and representatives from Rankin Films.

Peter Strickland is one of the UK’s boldly original new filmmaking voices, most recently with his psychological horror Berberian Sound Studio.

A subjective and personal study, I am Dora explores how and why women identify with one another and what this means when the identification is with a flawed or misunderstood character.

A selection of Douglas Hart's iconic music videos, alongside his 1991 documentary short Brazil ’70 The Sexiest Kick-Off, and will feature a Q&A with the director.

Our Festival awards will be announced, and the winners screened. Join us for a celebration of British filmmaking and to raise a toast to 10 years of the London Short Film Festival.
