Bird's Eye View: Documentaries

'Cutting edge, urgent, now' - Bonnie Greer

Birds Eye View launched the first major women's film festival in 2005, a positive and creative response to the fact that, while film is the most powerful medium in the world, only 7% of directors are women. This year they've done it again, but in three parts, culminating in this programme of inspirational international documentaries at the ICA.

Watching these films will give you rare glimpses into lives and issues from all around the world, through different and imaginative styles of story telling, from snippets of mobiles phone conversations to a single shot to camera.

We are delighted to welcome award-winning feature director Amma Asante (A Way of Life) to introduce the festival, and proud to be closing with the UK preimere of Until the Violence Stops, a superb chronicling of one of the most influential international campaigns against domestic violence, with guest speaker Meera Syal.
