“Into stagnant waters Infected surfaces as shockingly as a neon nuclear submarine” Time Out
“Infected has arrived into my world like a hawk into a dove-cot, like a motor cycle gang into a quaker prayer meeting. I’ll be honest – I’m shocked. Infected – to an eerie, ultimately disturbing extent – is Britain 1986, trapped on vinyl” NME
Aggressive to the point of brutality, Infected makes Soul Mining sound quaint.” The Guardian
“The liaison between rhythm and rage is full of manic power, suitable Christmas listening only if you are spending it with Satan!” The Independent
Infected – The Movie has not been screened publicly for almost 30 years. Infected was THE THE’s second major label album, released through Some Bizzare/Epic in 1986. Musically, lyrically and visually it was far ahead of its time and offered a disturbing picture of Britain and its complex relationship with America, which still holds true today. Featuring the powerful artwork of Matt’s older brother, the late Andy ‘Dog’ Johnson, Infected was also unique in that it featured a video for each track on the album. Filmed in Peru, Bolivia, New York and the UK by four directors, primarily Tim Pope and the late Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson, it quickly became one of the most acclaimed releases of the year, with many critics stunned at the evolution from its predecessor Soul Mining as well as the sheer size and scope of the project.
Running time: 105 minutes
A short trailer of new THE THE documentary Radio Cineola: The Inertia Variations is shown following the screening.
