Ruth Beale: Art for Virtue’s Sake

26 Nov 2010

Exploring the view that culture is a vital necessity for society, this performative lecture provocatively explores the relationship between culture and governance, education and emancipation throughout the twentieth century.

Based on research into historical and social discourses, Beale’s work involves performance, drawing, collecting and re-presenting archive material through discussion events.

Ruth Beale lives and works in London and was part of the Nought to Sixty ICA programme in 2008. She has exhibited and presented extensively in London galleries.
