14 Nov 2009 – 22 Nov 2009
Throughout Calling Out Of Context the ICA’s upper gallery is operating as a fully equipped recording studio, for musicians including Alexis Taylor, Alexander Tucker, Mica Levi and Woebot. From noon until 7pm each day artists and musicians will record and mix new work. Visitors to the recording studio are invited to witness the recording processes, which promise to reveal both the possibilities and difficulties of creating recorded music and sound.
Output from the recording studio will be posted here as the Calling Out Of Context season progresses, and there will be a special edition of our podcast The Experiment.
The recording studio will be managed by Charles Poulet who has performed with the artist Alex Bradley at the ICA as Whiteplane2 and has toured as sound engineer with Throbbing Gristle.
This event has now finished.
A special edition of The Experiment podcast takes an in-depth look at the results from the studio.
