An adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel, Rebecca was Alfred Hitchcock’s first foray into Hollywood filmmaking and an inspiration for Paul Thomas Anderson's latest film Phantom Thread.
Joan Fontaine plays a young woman who marries the dashing aristocratic widower Maxim de Winter (Laurence Olivier). After moving into his mansion, she soon learns about her husband's deceased first wife and the impact of her loss on Maxim and the household.
