A rare screening of Basil Dearden's noir-ish tale set around the south London docks, in which sailors on shore leave become entangled in a diamond-smuggling plot.
This screening will be followed by a Q&A with James Dearden and Simon Relph, sons of Pool of London director Basil Dearden and producer Michael Relph respectively, and actor Leslie Phillips. Following in their fathers' footsteps, James Dearden is the successful director of Rogue Trader and A Kiss Before Dying while Simon Relph has been involved in the production of such British hits as Hideous Kinky, Land Girls, Blue Juice and Damage, as well as being a former chairman of BAFTA. Leslie Phillips, who plays a sailor in Pool of London, has starred in numerous British film and television classics ranging from the Carry On series to Spielberg's Empire of the Sun to the recent hit Venus, in which he co-starred with Peter O'Toole.
