Point, Shoot, Process: A Two-Day 16mm Filmmaking Workshop

3 Jun 20164 Jun 2016

In partnership with no.w.here and led by artists James Holcombe and Leah Millar this unique two-day workshop gives aspiring artists and filmmakers the opportunity to work and shoot with 16mm film.

Day one of this hands-on workshop takes you through the use of a Bolex 16mm camera including its basic functions, loading, shooting, light metering with an easy to use phone app, and tips for shooting black and white film. Groups share a 16mm camera to film in the ICA.

On day two, we move into hand processing as a group, using pre-mixed chemical solutions in a temporary darkroom at the ICA. The workshop ends with a 16mm projector screening of the works made.

Following the workshop, films will be digitised at no.w.here for an afternoon screening at the no.w.here space.

Formed in 2004, no.w.here is a not-for-profit artist-run organisation based in Tower Hamlets that combines film production with critical dialogue about contemporary image-making. As an artist-run platform, no.w.here supports the production of artist works, runs multiple workshops and critical discussions, and actively curates performances, screenings, residencies, publications, events and exhibitions.

Please note that each ticket is valid for two days. Each session will start at 11am and finish at 5pm.
