Perversion: A Psychoanalytic View

Perversion: A Psychoanalytic View

30 Mar 2007

Perversion is often mistakedly equated with practices that society deems unacceptable or marginal. Psychoanalysis has a very different view. Perversion has little to do with surface behaviour, but rather with the position that the subject and their partner occupy in fantasy. Exploring this allows us not only to define perversion structurally but opens up new perspectives on sexuality.

Darian Leader is a psychoanalyst practising in London and author. His latest book is Why Do People Get Ill?
