"Thoughtful and provocative" Jonathan Rosenbaum

Based on a story written by Makhmalbaf and with imagery perhaps inspired by the poem The Three Fish by Rumi, Time of Love is a trilogy of interlinked episodes about female adultery, featuring the same characters – a young woman Gozal, a dark-haired man and a blond-haired man.

The roles of her husband and lover alter in each episode. Shot in Turkey with Turkish actors, and promptly banned in Iran, this is one of Makhmalbaf’s lesser-known and rarely screened films.
