Maria Fusco, Director of Art Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London gives a reading from The Mechanical Copula - the first collection of short stories by the writer, published by Sternberg Press (Berlin/New York).
Stripping bare the accord of culture and commodity, Fusco’s sequence of stories tracks the slimy path of social mobility with serious playfulness and an eye for the absurd. Fusco's book is about the porous relationship between the extramundane and the average.
Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2010 artist Siôn Parkinson sings extracts from his ICA-commissioned text, SETT - a lyrical, rhythmical evocation of a Welsh mining community that falls in the wake of a boy’s ill-footing among the rocks.
