Luis Buñuel: Aesthetics of the Irrational: Él + Intro from Little White Lies editor David Jenkins

The screening is introduced by David Jenkins, editor of Little White Lies magazine.

Serving as the inspiration for the iconic bell tower scene in Hitchcock’s Vertigo, Buñuel takes on the familiar story of a bourgeois man and his obsessive overprotection of his wife to delve deep into the jealousy that consumes his protagonist. Though named as one of Cahiers du Cinema’s "most essential films of all time", Buñuel’s great pride in the film came from learning that psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan would screen the film for his students to demonstrate paranoia.
