Richard Heslop skateboarded with Alex Turnbull from the band 23 Skidoo in the late 1970s, and as he had a camera, he started doing live projections for the band. The 23 Skidoo album Seven Songs was recorded in Throbbing Gristle's Hackney studio in 1981, and Heslop shot on 8mm, VHS and added found-footage to accompany the whole album, influenced by William Burroughs' cut-up technique.
