Artists

  • Ana da Silva

Ana da Silva is a founding member of the all-female The Raincoats, formed at Hornsey Art College in 1977. Emerging from the punk rock scene, they aligned themselves with the post-punk ethos of anything goes, bringing in unusual sounds for punk from violin to toy and second-hand instruments and bringing in free jazz and world musics. It was the patronage of Kurt Cobain and Sonic Youth that sparked a second wave of interest in the band, and specifically saw them influence a whole new generation of female-led bands in the US in the nineties.

As a solo artist, Ana released a solo album The Lighthouse on Chicks on Speed Records in 2005, and she is currently recording a new solo album.

  • Sacred Paws

Self-described as a long-distance band with one member that lives in Glasgow and one that lives in London, Sacred Paws have released their first EP on Mogwai’s Rock Action label earlier in 2016. Their music has been described as “almost immediately infectious, a whirr of energy which blends high-life rhythms to skittish guitar lines, dervish drumming and sighing, overlapping vocals.”

  • Ravioli Me Away

Formed in 2013, undefined by genre, Ravioli Me Away have a high energy, dangerously ambitious and delusional jazzy-post-pop-punk-hip-funk sound. Described as "vintage drag-queen Bananarama Youtube footage played with twice the sass and in double time, with an incredulous broadband connection reflected in the eyes of a much overworked and downright exhausted Julie Burchill on acid."
