Rob Matthews is fresh out of Brighton University and already someone to watch with his refreshing take on design and illustration. His series If Drawings Were Photographs has been featured in all sorts of press and design blogs and they are only the tip of the iceberg.
This month he will be heading our Little Pencil workshop, where children are encouraged to create in response to music and we are very much looking forward to seeing what he will come up with!
4.30pm - Screening of Norman McLaren animation shorts
Little Pencil begins each session with a screening of some short animation specials, introducing ideas about pictures and music to young eyes and ears. This month, three 1950’s films from Oscar winning animator and innovator Norman McLaren. The screening is followed by a brief tour of the projection room and explanation of how films are projected.

5.15pm - Little Pencil workshop
Rob Matthews will play music he finds inspiring while he and the children draw what the music makes them think of. As Rob isn't a traditional illustrator there may be novel ways of creating involved too!
