Bruno Dumont's debut gives voice and vision to the rage and frustration of a group of inarticulate youths living in the village of Bailleul (Dumont's own home town in northern France).
Working with non-professional actors, focusing on surface details and controlling every move, Dumont creates a spare, deeply spiritual work very much in the style of Robert Bresson.
