Music programmed by Zhang Ding in association with NTS
The Zhang Ding installation is open every day from 11am till 6pm, with open rehearsals taking place from approximately 2pm. Doors open again at 6.15pm for the ticketed performances. Please check back for returns if a performance is sold out; in addition, a small allocation of tickets will be released on the day at the Box Office from 5.45pm. The post-performance party continues in the Frieze ICA Bar until 1am.
Zhang Ding’s Enter the Dragon presented by the ICA and K11 Art Foundation consists of a series of daily performances and spontaneous collaborations over a two week period, the programme showcases an eclectic mix of emerging artists, DJs and musicians selected by Zhang Ding in collaboration with NTS Radio from open submissions and London’s musical undercurrent.
Artists and musicians are performing music from a range of genres including acoustic, ambient, electronic, experimental, industrial, punk and techno, and the programme will showcase talent from London’s vibrant underground music scene, as well as exclusive contributions artists and musicians from Germany, UK and the US.
Enter the Dragon is a platform where Zhang Ding further explores his longstanding interest in "the stimulating and chemical interaction between sound, stage and the immediate emotional response of the audience."
Bo Ningen are a Japanese four-piece acid punk band from Gumma, Tajimi, Nishinomiya and Tokyo, who met and formed in London in 2006. They are regulars on the festival circuit in the UK, Europe and Japan, notably the 2011 Venice Biennale in collaboration with artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster. This performance was re-created for Yoko Ono’s Meltdown Festival at Royal Festival Hall in 2013. Visit Bo Ningen's SoundCloud page.
Powell is a DJ and music producer who makes hard-hitting leftfield dance music. His tracks combine the attitude of post-punk with the physicality of techno and the adventurousness of experimental music while drawing on post-punk, neo wave and modern club music. Entry to ticket holders is on a first-come, first-served basis and some queuing may be required.
The theatre doors will open at 6.15pm each evening with the performances lasting approximately 60 minutes. There will be a small allocation of tickets for each performance available on the door 30 minutes before the start of the event. The tickets available at the door are limited and therefore entry is not guaranteed.
As all performances that are part of Zhang Ding: Enter the Dragon are free, please only book tickets that you will use.
