13 Jan 2007 – 10 May 2007
A moving, meditative, one-of-a-kind cinematic experience (and this genuinely is a film that has to be experienced in the cinema). Filmmaker Philip Groening waited thirteen years to be granted access to the monastery of the Grand Chartreuse in the French Alps near Grenoble in order to film the daily life of the Carthusian monks; fittingly, the result is no ordinary documentary.
Dir Philip Groening, Germany 2006, 164 mins, subtitles. A Soda Pictures release.
