Frieze video: A Question of Taste

7 Nov 2015

A screening of three frieze films and a panel discussion between artists Pablo Bronstein and Anthea Hamilton, chaired by art critic Harry Thorne (frieze and The White Review) explores the relationship between contemporary art, design and matters of taste.

What does it mean for artists to discuss judgments of taste? Should contemporary artists and critics be arbiters of good taste or is it their role to critically intervene in such judgments? How are judgements of taste affected by or, in turn, affect the politics of class, gender or racial identity? How do the criteria for good taste differ across the fields of art and design? How does the intertwining of art and product design affect how we judge taste in the field of contemporary art?
