In light of the current Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition and in conjunction with the MA in the Contemporary delivered in partnership with the University of Kent and the ICA, this Salon questions the notion of ‘contemporary’.
Covering a range of disciplines including art, design, poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction and the essay, as well as key ideas in contemporary theory and philosophy, the Salon will reveal how creative thinkers and practitioners working within these fields are responding to the present period, and how their work illuminates and reflects current cultural concerns.
Speakers include from the University of Kent; David Herd (Professor of Modern Literature, School of English), Caroline Rooney (Professor of African and Middle Eastern Studies, School of English) and Sarah Turner (Director of Research, Curriculum Lead: Fine Art, School of Music and Fine Art).
