Hosted by film critic and curator Eric Hynes with the participation of Simran Hans (Film Critic for The Observer), David Jenkins (editor of Little White Lies) and Isabel Stevens (Production Editor of Sight & Sound), this roundtable includes different perspectives on the role of documentary criticism, from considerations of nonfiction artistry and filmmaking practices to the role of film in challenging and shaping society. What is the current status of documentary criticism in the wider field? What stories get published? Whose voices get published and read? Critics and editors weigh in, exploring why, how and the varied ways in which they write. More panellists TBC.
Frames of Representation (FoR): New Visions for Documentary Cinema 2017 is presented in academic partnership with CHASE (Consortium for the Arts and Humanities South-East England)
