Pioneer of the essay film style, French director Chris Marker (La Jetée, Sans Soleil) visited Israel in 1960. The resulting documentary, Description of a Struggle, won the Golden Bear at the 1961 Berlin Festival and has rarely been seen since.
The film is screened today alongside Dan Geva's remarkable 2006 homage, Description of a Memory.
