‘Filmmaking of the highest order’ The Times
In a masterfully understated, award-winning performance, Olivier Gourmet (Winner of Best Actor, Cannes 2002) portrays a carpenter who teaches teenage boys in a rehabilitation school. Disturbed by the arrival of a new student and struggling to keep a professional distance in the boy’s presence, an ambiguous relationship develops between the two - until the revelation of a terrible secret from the past changes their lives forever.
Utilizing their pared-down visual aesthetic to great effect, the Dardenne brothers have created a riveting and strikingly powerful film of profound emotional and moral complexity.
This film will be shown in 35mm.
