Still: Cutter's Way

Cutter's Way

30 Jun 20075 Jul 2007

A minor masterpiece from the tail-end of American cinema's golden decade. The discovery of a female body in a garbage can by Los Angeleno Richard Bone (Jeff Bridges) prompts his bitter, alcoholic Vietnam vet buddy Cutter (an electrifying John Heard) to team up with the dead girl's sister for some amateur sleuthing. Then Cutter turns the case into a personal crusade, using it to blackmail a local oil tycoon who in turn may be framing Cutter and Bone...

Two from Los Angeles

In celebration of a city's celluloid history, we present a double-bill of detective tales with Jeff Bridges and LA in the lead roles. Both have a ramshackle spirit that nicely subverts the genre in which they loosely belong.

Dir Ivan Passer, USA 1981, 105 mins
