Gaza-based authors Ali Abukhattab and Samah al Sheikh talk about their writing and their work in literature development in the besieged Gaza Strip. The event will also hear about the Narrating Gaza online initiative run by the A.M.Qattan Foundation.
Despite the authors being refused UK visas, the talk will go ahead over Skype with Omar Al-Qattan and Selma Dabbagh in the ICA Studio. This event is a platform to discuss contemporary literary practices of Gaza's young creative generation. The authors will perform readings of their work.
Omar Al-Qattan is a filmmaker. He is also a trustee of the AM Qattan Foundation, chairman of the Shubbak 2013 Festival and of the Palestinian Museum.
Ali Abukhattab and Samah al Sheikh are both poets and writers. They currently reside in Gaza City where they work in media and culture. They are married with two young children.
This event is presented in association with the Shubbak Festival
