Scottish artist Martin Creed, and Fiona Bradley of Fruitmarket Gallery- Edinburgh, discuss their work, in particular Down over Up, Creed's 2010 exhibition at Fruitmarket Gallery. This exhibition showed new and recent work by one of Britain’s most highly-regarded and popular artists.
Creed’s work has captured the public’s imagination, while also attracting critical acclaim for its generous and accessible approach. Best known for his Turner Prize winning piece The Lights going on and off, 2000 and his 2008 Duveen Commission at Tate Britain, Work No. 850, in which runners sprinted through the gallery at 30-second intervals.
Fiona Bradley was appointed as the Director of the Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh in 2003. Fruitmarket Gallery’s creative programme focuses on exhibiting Scottish and International artists as part of the same programme, while also actively commissioning and publishing artworks. Bradley co-authored a book about Martin Creed, Down over Up (2010) published by the Fruitmarket Gallery press.
