Still: Summer Scars

Cine-Excess Closing Night Special: Roger Corman + Jane Asher + Summer Scars Preview

3 May 2008

We are excited to welcome the godfather of American indie film, the King of the Bs, to the ICA: a rare opportunity to hear the great American filmmaker Roger Corman discuss his prolific movie career with leading film critic Kim Newman.

Corman has helped launch many now-famous directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese and Peter Bogdanovich, as well as making a string of influential low-budget exploitation movies including The Little Shop of Horrors, The Wild Angels and The Masque of the Red Death.

After the discussion we'll watch Summer Scars, a brooding and creepy British drama that develops into a darker and creepier version of Stand By Me. Six young friends ditch school and head off into the woods, only to be befriended by a strange and bedraggled man.
