Chelsea Girls

5 Apr 2013

Warhol’s 1966 classic Chelsea Girls, screened in its original double-16mm projected format from recently restored prints, is a masterful experiment in anti-film. This 3 hour epic set in New York’s infamous Hotel Chelsea features a cast of Warhol superstars including Nico, International Velvet, Gerard Malanga and filmmaker Marie Menken, among many others. Chelsea Girls' unique soundtrack features early songs by the Velvet Underground and the film was the inspiration behind Nico’s debut album Chelsea Girl (1967).

Dir. Paul Morrissey and Andy Warhol, US 1966, 210 mins
