A fascinating, fast-paced and often funny trip through representations of homosexuality in mainstream American cinema, both overt and - more often than not - covert. Exhaustively researched (based on Vito Russo's 1981 book of the same name) and impeccably edited, the film comes close to Russo's own vision of a "gay That's Entertainment!". Quentin Crisp, Tom Hanks, Armistead Maupin and Tony Curtis are among the voices heard, with films referenced from the silent era to the mid 90s.
