In a world in which partisan blogs have become significant forces in politics, is there a danger that the brave new world of online social networking will give rise to 'echo chambers' where people only listen and speak to those who already agree with them?
Cass Sunstein, one of America's most influential social theorists, professor of law and politics at the University of Chicago and author of Republic 2.0, comes to the ICA to talk about the implications of web 2.0 for free speech and democracy. Afterwards, he will be in conversation with David Jennings, author of Net, Blogs and Rock'n'Roll. Their discussion is chaired by James Harkin, ICA director of talks and author of Big Ideas.
