Carrie + Panel Discussion and Bloody Prom Party

24 Sep 2016

Brian de Palma's films have been controversial to say the least. Feminist film collective The Final Girls present a special 40th anniversary screening of his most iconic horror film, Carrie. Tormented by a hyper-religious mother and the meanness of teenage girls, Carrie develops telekinetic powers. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Michael Blyth (BFI Festivals Programmer), Catherine Bray (Film4 Editorial Director and Producer) and Dr. Alison Pierse (Lecturer at York University), and hosted by Anna Bogutskaya and Olivia Howe of The Final Girls, exploring the film's complex and divisive female protagonist and the role of women in Brian de Palma's films.

There will be a bloody prom party after the screening and discusssion, with sweet prom tunes from DJ Juggy Jones to give Carrie White the send-off she deserves.
